The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs is requesting the public to pay special attention to the labelling instructions given on all Christmas lights; specifically the 200 and 300 Icicle Lights, imported from China with the safety instructions written in very small print.

Acting Director, Jeffrey Kellman, said:  “ The Department is also urging members of the public not to purchase lights or any other items, where the safety instructions are deleted or tampered with in anyway.”

“Users of these lights in question, should note that the word ‘not’ was omitted in Instruction #8, and should read ‘This is an electric product – not a toy! to avoid the risk of fire, burns, personal injury and electric shock it should not be played with or placed where small children can reach it,’ “he added.
