The Barbados Council for the Disabled has extended the submission deadline for the Dorien Pile National Literacy Competition. The deadline for entries is now Sunday, July 31, 2016.

Persons with disabilities, their family members, friends and caregivers are invited to share their thoughts on the topic: Life As It Is: Living With A Disability In Independent Barbados.

Entries must be between 750 and 1,000 words and will be judged in two categories: Juniors – persons under the age of 18 and Seniors – persons 18 years and older. Prizes will be awarded as follows: 1st place – $1,000, 2nd place – $750 and 3rd place – $500.

Entries may be submitted in written, electronic (e-mail), audio or braille format to The Barbados Council for the Disabled, Harambee House, Garrison, St. Michael, or via e-mail at finance@bcd.org.bb.
