Former St. Lucian High Court Judge, Madame Justice Sandra Mason, was today sworn in as Barbados’ newest Court of Appeal Judge after taking her oath of office from Governor-General, Sir Clifford Husbands, in a short ceremony at Government House.

Madame Justice Mason was the first Barbadian female and one of the first attorneys-at-law who completed the requisite course of the University of the West Indies Faculty of Law and the Hugh Wooding Law School, leading to admission as an attorney-at-law, at the Bar of Barbados in 1975.

She has over 30 years’ legal experience spanning private law practice, the Barbados magistracy including the Juvenile and Family Court, rising to Chief Magistrate in December, 1994.

Prior to her St. Lucian appointment, Madame Justice Mason was Registrar of the Supreme Court in Barbados since November, 1997.
