The Ministry of Health and Wellness will recommence its COVID-19 community testing from tomorrow, Monday, August 30.

Over the last few weeks, health officials have observed a significant rise in the transmission of COVID-19 in Barbados, with some of the cases identified from densely populated communities, as well as some business places.  In response, the Ministry has resumed its campaign to enhance screening and contact tracing, and to increase testing in order to help curb this rapid spread of COVID-19 variants of concern.

Testing for symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals will continue to be offered from tomorrow in communities and businesses as guided by contact tracing teams.   Communities will be visited from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends.  Business houses will be visited at agreed times, during their normal working hours.

Officers authorised by the Ministry of Health and Wellness will be visiting the communities and businesses beforehand to advise residents of the expected activity.

The public is encouraged to co-operate with health officials in this effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
