Another life has been lost to COVID-19.

The 67-year-old Barbadian woman, who had comorbidities, passed away on Monday, May 17, at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility.  She was admitted on May 6, and spent 12 days in isolation – nine of which were on a ventilator.

Her death brings the number of casualties from the virus to 47.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness extends sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Health officials remind members of the public that although the positivity rate has been trending downwards, COVID-19 is still very much a threat, especially to certain high risk groups, such as the elderly and those with non-communicable diseases.

Persons are urged to get vaccinated as soon as vaccines become available to protect themselves, their families and communities from the virus.
