This report gives a breakdown of the categories of persons in isolation as at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23.

There were 898 persons in isolation. Of these, 625 patients (69 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 115 (13 per cent) fully vaccinated. Of those fully vaccinated, one person was in secondary isolation, and the other 114 were in tertiary isolation. 

There were 42 partially vaccinated persons. Two of them were in primary isolation; one was in secondary isolation, and the remaining 39 in tertiary isolation.   

The number of unvaccinated persons in primary isolation was 25; 30 were in secondary isolation, and 570 in tertiary isolation.

The overall figure for persons whose vaccination status was unknown is 116 or 13 per cent.  All were in tertiary isolation.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation being designated for the most severely ill.

Tertiary isolation houses patients who are mildly ill, or not showing any symptoms of the illness. It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation changes throughout the day as patients are admitted and discharged.
