This report gives a breakdown of the categories of persons in isolation as at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24.

There were 1,022 persons in isolation. Of these, 725 patients (71 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 137 (13 per cent) fully vaccinated. Of those fully vaccinated, four persons were in secondary isolation, and the other 133 were in tertiary isolation. 

There were 50 partially vaccinated persons. Two of them were in primary isolation; two were in secondary isolation, and the remaining 46 in tertiary isolation.  

The number of unvaccinated persons in primary isolation was 26; 28 were in secondary isolation, and 671 in tertiary isolation.

The overall figure for persons whose vaccination status was unknown is 110 or 11 per cent. All were in tertiary isolation.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation being designated for the most severely ill.

Tertiary isolation houses patients who are mildly ill, or not showing any symptoms of the illness. It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation changes throughout the day as patients are admitted and discharged.
