This report gives a breakdown of the categories of persons in isolation as at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021.

There were 569 people in isolation. Of these, 468 patients (82 per cent) were unvaccinated and 94 (17 per cent) were fully vaccinated. Three of those fully vaccinated patients (one in primary and two in secondary) were in need of care, and the other 91 were in tertiary isolation. Seven persons, all in tertiary isolation, were partially vaccinated for COVID-19.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation being designated for the most severely ill.

Meanwhile, tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill, or not showing any illness. It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
