This report gives a breakdown of the categories of persons in isolation as at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 6, 2021.

There were 542 people in isolation. Of these, 438 patients (81 per cent) were unvaccinated and 97 (18 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

Five of those fully vaccinated patients (1 in primary and 4 in secondary) were in need of care, and the other 92 were in tertiary isolation.  Seven persons, all in tertiary isolation, were partially vaccinated for COVID-19.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation being designated for the most severely ill.

Meanwhile, tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill, or not showing illness. It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
