The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training (METVT) has released the administration booklet on the guidelines for the safe operation of schools in Barbados.

It was developed by the METVT, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the teachers’ unions, the representative bodies for principals, private schools, parents, teachers and other stakeholders.

The booklet seeks to “promote the effective and safe operation of schools as every effort is made to ensure students, teachers and other staff can conduct educational activities in safe and secure environments”.

The 30-page booklet covers a wide range of topics, including general rules, the signs and symptoms of COVID-19, precautionary measures that should be taken by students and school staff.

It also covers screening of persons, transportation to and from school, ventilation, mental health, as well as protocols for special needs and nursery  schools.
