The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory reported 151 new COVID-19 positive cases for Tuesday, February 16.  These cases include samples from over the last nine days.

The laboratory conducted 1,856 tests on Tuesday. Fifty-five persons have recovered, bringing the number of active cases to 826.

There was one death, a 73-year-old man with comorbidities, who passed away after spending five days at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility. The number of people who have died from COVID-19 is now 29.

The 151 new cases comprise 97 women and 54 men. Four of them had already been at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility undergoing assessment to determine whether their positive PCR test result showed that they were in fact newly positive, or whether they had COVID in the past and were no longer infectious.

The 147 other cases include 134 Barbadians and 11 non-nationals.

The total number of persons diagnosed as positive at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds is 363. Of these, 361 have recovered and the remaining two inmates are included in the active cases.

Barbados has recorded 2,608 confirmed cases – 1,187 females and 1,421 males – and 1,753 persons have recovered.

The public health laboratory has so far completed 117,669 tests. There were 2,119 persons vaccinated on Tuesday as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, a total of 6,683 vaccinations have been administered – 3,710 women and 2,973 men.
