On Monday, March 15, the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 16 new positive cases of COVID-19 from among 358 tests. There were also 39 recoveries, bringing the number of active cases to 165.

A 75-year-old Barbadian woman died last night from COVID-19. She had pre-existing chronic non-communicable diseases and passed away after spending 14 days at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility. The virus has now claimed 39 lives.

The 16 positive individuals comprise five women and 11 men. Five of them were already at the Harrison Point Facility undergoing assessment.

The total number of confirmed cases recorded since the pandemic began is 3,458 – 1,639 females and 1,819 males – and 3,254 people have recovered from the virus. 

The public health laboratory has so far completed 134,030 tests.

There were 815 people vaccinated on Monday, as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, a total of 53,129 vaccinations have been administered – 22,268 men and 30,861 women.
