The country recorded 21 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, March 17.

The new positives were identified from among the 573 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.  Twenty-three persons recovered and were discharged from isolation.

The number of active cases for March 17 is now recorded as 189.  This total is as a result of an audit of the discharges for the month of March.

The 21 persons diagnosed with the viral illness comprise four men and 17 women.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 3,492 confirmed cases – 1,665 females and 1,827 males – and 3,264 people have recovered.  Thirty-nine people have died from the virus.

The public health laboratory has so far completed 135,021 tests.

On Wednesday, 1,386 people were vaccinated as part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, a total of 56,018 vaccinations have been administered – 23,413 men and 32,605 women.
