A total of 217 new COVID-19 cases have been reported by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. The facility conducted 2,382 tests on Monday, September 27.

The cases comprise 103 males and 114 females. Of these individuals, 44 are under the age of 18, and the other 173 are 18 years and older. There are 1,093 patients in isolation.

The number of lives lost to the virus has reached 69, following the death of a 63-year-old Barbadian man on Monday at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility.  He was unvaccinated.

Barbados has recorded 7,981 confirmed cases (3,930 males and 4,051 females) of COVID-19, since March 2020. The public health laboratory has performed 312,968 tests.

To date, 133,446 first doses have been administered under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. The number of persons who have received their second dose has moved to 103,143.  This figure represents 38.1 per cent of the population who are now fully vaccinated against the virus.
