There were 228 new cases (103 males and 125 females) of COVID-19 recorded by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Thursday, September 30. The facility conducted 2,531 tests.

Of those testing positive, 60 persons are under 18 years old, and 168 are age 18 and older. There are currently 1,080 persons in isolation.

Four persons, who all had comorbidities, passed on Thursday. Three of them, a 47-year-old male, a 79-year-old female, and an 81-year old female were unvaccinated. A 67-year-old female was fully vaccinated.  Their deaths bring the number of persons who have died from the virus to 78.

Since March 2020, Barbados has 8,609 confirmed cases – 4223 males and 4,386 females – of COVID-19. A total of 320,277 tests were performed by the public health laboratory. 

Under the National Vaccination Programme, 136,034 first doses were administered, and 105,881 persons, or 39.1 per cent of the population, have received second doses and are fully vaccinated.
