COVID Communications Unit Barbados.

Barbados recorded 26 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday, January 25, while 27 persons recovered from the viral illness.

The number of active cases on the island is now recorded as 360 (a significant reduction, reflecting an additional number of discharges being recorded for the month of January, after an audit was done).

The 26 new cases were identified from among the 330 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.  They comprise 18 women and eight men.

Two of the new positives are persons who were previously sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for assessment

The total cases at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds now stand at 361 – 102 staff members and 259 male inmates.

Since March 2020, Barbados has recorded 1,427 cases – 571 females and 856 males, and 1,057 people have recovered (this increased number reflects a reconciliation of a discrepancy in discharges for the month of January).

Ten people have died from COVID-19 in Barbados, to date. The public health laboratory has so far completed 100,129 tests.
