There were 28 new COVID-19 positive results identified on Monday, February 1, from among the 866 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
A total of 37 persons were reported to have recovered yesterday from the viral illness, and were released from isolation. There are now 366 active cases.
The 28 new cases comprise 11 women and 17 men. Seven of them are persons who would have been previously sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for assessment. A person would be sent to Harrison Point for assessment to confirm whether their PCR test result is that of a new case or an old case.
The other 21 cases include 18 Barbadians and two non-nationals.
The total number of persons diagnosed as positive at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds remains at 362. Of these, 355 have recovered and the remaining seven inmates are included in the active cases.
To date, Barbados has recorded 1,586 confirmed cases – 653 females, 933 males – and 1,206 persons have recovered. Fourteen persons have died from COVID-19.
The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory has completed 104,334 tests since February 2020.
