The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 31 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, May 4, from among the 650 tests conducted.

The cases, which comprise one female and 30 males, include 24 male clients of the Psychiatric Hospital. The new positives at the hospital reflect the results of the second PCR tests, which were given to staff and patients following the discovery of cases on the “A” ward, late last month. The outbreak remains confined to that ward.

Four persons recovered from the virus, while there are 93 people in isolation.

Since March 2020, there have been 3,915 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (1,888 females and 2,027 males) and 3,821 recoveries.  The death toll from COVID-19 is 45.

The public health laboratory has conducted a total of 156,003 tests. Under the National Vaccination Programme, 75,148 vaccinations (first and second doses) have been administered.  This number includes 22,181 people who have been fully vaccinated during the second phase of the programme.
