Laboratory results from tests conducted on Friday, October 9, have revealed that an 81-year-old Barbadian man tested positive for COVID-19 after his second test.

He arrived in Barbados on Sunday, October 4, on a British Airways flight, and went into quarantine as required for persons travelling from high risk countries. 

This now brings the tally of confirmed cases to 206, and increases the number of persons in isolation to 16. The island’s recoveries remain at 183.

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory completed 379 tests on Friday, and a total of 27,350 tests since February.  Testing related to the recent cluster, inclusive of staff and students of The Ellerslie School, remains ongoing.
