A total of 96 people – 45 females and 51 males – were identified as COVID-19 positive on Thursday, December 23, from among the 1,059 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

Of these, 14 persons were under the age of 18, while 82 were 18 years and older There were 121 people in isolation facilities, while 850 were in home isolation.

A 68-year-old unvaccinated man died from the virus at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility on Thursday. As at December 23, there were 260 deaths from the viral illness.

The public health laboratory has carried out 463,844 tests since February last year, and recorded 27,582 cases (13,115 males and 14,467 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 155,491 (68.1 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 142,815 (52.7 per cent of the total population or 62.5 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
