The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 315 new COVID-19 cases, 158 males and 157 females, on Friday, November 5, and conducted 1,946 tests. 

The new positives comprised 67 persons, who were under the age of 18, and 248 who were 18 years and older. There were 927 people in isolation facilities, and 6,471 in home isolation.

Two deaths were recorded – a Barbadian male, aged 72, who was fully vaccinated, and another Barbadian male, aged 74, who was unvaccinated. The two men passed away at the Blackman and Gollop and Harrison’s Point Isolation Facilities, respectively. Their deaths bring the number of persons who have died from COVID-19 to 172, as at November 5.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 150,015 (65.7 per cent of the eligible population). A total of 129,280 persons (47.7 per cent of the total population or 56.6 per cent of the eligible population) have received their second doses and are fully vaccinated. The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older. 

The public health laboratory has carried out 400,218 tests since the beginning of the pandemic, and recorded 19,831 confirmed cases (9,574 males and 10,257 females) of COVID-19.
