The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 677 new COVID-19 cases – 300 males and 377 females – from the 2,565 tests carried out on Tuesday, January 18.

The new cases consisted of 121 people under the age of 18, and 556 who were 18 years and older. There were 103 persons in isolation facilities, while 5,561 were in home isolation. As at January 18, there were 271 deaths from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 508,874 tests since February 2020, and recorded 37,063 COVID-19 cases (17,264 males and 19,799 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 157,793 (69.1 per cent of the eligible population). 

The total number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 146,257 (54 per cent of the total population or 64 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
