A total of 198 people – 89 males and 109 females – were diagnosed as COVID-19 positive by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Tuesday, November 23. The facility conducted 1,610 tests.

Of the new cases, 41 persons were under the age of 18, and 157 were 18 years and older. There were 635 people in isolation facilities, and 7,125 in home isolation.

Two persons died from the virus on Tuesday. A 67-year-old unvaccinated man, and a partially vaccinated 90-year-old woman both passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility. As at November 23, 215 people had died from the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 429,377 tests since February last year, and recorded 24,432 cases (11,672 males and 12,760 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 153,165 (67.1 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 135,475 (50 per cent of the total population or 59.3 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
