There were 198 people (96 males and 102 females) who tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, December 1. The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 1,827 tests.

Of the new cases, 49 persons were under the age of 18, and 149 were 18 years and older. A total of 394 people were in isolation facilities, and 2,370 were in home isolation.

Two persons died from the virus on Wednesday; a 22-year-old man who was unvaccinated, and a 51-year-old woman who was fully vaccinated. They both died at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility. As at December 1, there were 233 COVID-19 deaths.

The public health laboratory has carried out 439,135 tests since February last year, and recorded 25,627 cases (12,215 males and 13,412 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 153,670 (67.3 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 136,988 (50.5 per cent of the total population or 60 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
