A total of 330 new COVID-19 cases, 136 males and 194 females, were recorded on Wednesday, July 27, from the 894 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases comprised 48 persons under the age of 18, and 282 who were 18 years and older. There were 65 people in isolation facilities, while 3,171 were in home isolation.

Two men, aged 42 and 86, died from the viral illness on Wednesday. As at July 27, there were 491 COVID-19 related deaths.

The public health laboratory has conducted 726,148 tests since February 2020, and recorded 91,264 COVID-19 cases (41,561 males and 49,703 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 162,935 (71.3 per cent of the eligible population).  

The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 153,968 (56.8 per cent of the total population or 67.4 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
