There were 129 new COVID-19 cases, 59 males and 70 females, recorded on Wednesday, June 8, from the 690 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases consisted of 29 persons under the age of 18, and 100 who were 18 years and older. The number of people in isolation facilities was 35, while 1,230 were in home isolation.

A 90-year-old unvaccinated woman died from the virus on Wednesday. As at June 8, there were 467 COVID-19 related deaths.

The public health laboratory has conducted 692,308 tests since February 2020, and recorded 81,929 COVID-19 cases (37,355 males and 44,574 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 162,521 (71.2 per cent of the eligible population).  

The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 152,970 (56.4 per cent of the total population or 67 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
