The 171 COVID-19 tests performed by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory yesterday yielded one new positive case and allowed two people to leave isolation today, after a second consecutive negative test.

The new patient, who has entered the isolation facility at Harrison Point, St. Lucy, is a 25-year-old Barbadian female, who is asymptomatic. 

She arrived at the Grantley Adams International Airport on August 17, and was in quarantine prior to her positive retest yesterday.

She travelled to Barbados from the United States via Jamaica, arriving on Caribbean Airlines. Her diagnosis has taken the number of confirmed cases to 158, comprising 83 females and 75 males.  

Those in isolation number 25, and 126 people have recovered. Up to yesterday, the public health laboratory completed 15,503 tests.
