As at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2022, there were 72 patients in isolation facilities (16 in primary,44 in secondary and 12 in tertiary isolation).

Of these, 32 patients (44 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 27 (38 per cent) were fully vaccinated. The unvaccinated comprised 12 persons in primary and 20 in secondary isolation. Of those fully vaccinated, four patients were in primary isolation and 23 in secondary.

One person, in secondary isolation, was partially vaccinated for COVID-19. There were 12 patients, in tertiary isolation, whose vaccination status was unknown.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment with primary isolation housing the most severely ill. Tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill or not showing illness.

It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation is fluid and changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
