As at noon, Monday, April 4, 2022, there were 71 patients in isolation facilities (nine in primary, 56 in secondary, and six in tertiary isolation).

Of these, 33 patients (46 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 36 (51 per cent) were fully vaccinated. The unvaccinated comprised seven persons in primary, 23 in secondary, and three in tertiary isolation.

Of those fully vaccinated, two patients were in primary isolation, 31 in secondary, and three in tertiary. Two patients, both in secondary isolation, were partially vaccinated for COVID-19.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation housing the most severely ill. Tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill or not showing illness.

It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation is fluid and changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
