As at noon, Wednesday, February 16, 2022, there were 119 patients in isolation facilities (32 in primary, 77 in secondary, and 10 in tertiary isolation).

Of these, 62 patients (52 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 36 (30 per cent) were fully vaccinated. The unvaccinated comprised 16 persons in primary, 42 in secondary, and four in tertiary isolation. Of those fully vaccinated, 14 patients were in primary isolation, 17 in secondary, and five were in tertiary isolation.

Six persons, two in primary, three in secondary, and one in tertiary isolation, were partially vaccinated for COVID-19. There were 15 patients, all in secondary isolation, whose vaccination status was unknown.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation housing the most severely ill. Tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill or not showing illness.

It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation is fluid and changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
