As at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 23, 2022, there were 104 patients in isolation facilities (23 in primary, 52 in secondary, and 29 in tertiary isolation).

Of these, 42 patients (40 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 30 (29 per cent) were fully vaccinated.  The unvaccinated comprised 11 persons in primary, 22 in secondary, and nine in tertiary isolation.Of those fully vaccinated, seven patients were in primary isolation, 10 in secondary, and 13 were in tertiary isolation.

Five persons, three in primary, and one each in secondary and tertiary isolation, were partially vaccinated for COVID-19. There were 27 patients, two in primary, 19 in secondary, and six in tertiary isolation, whose vaccination status was unknown.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment with primary isolation housing the most severely ill. Tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill or not showing illness.  

It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation is fluid and changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
