As at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2022, there were 48 patients in isolation facilities (14 in primary, 32 in secondary and two in tertiary isolation).

Of these, 28 patients (58 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 17 (36 per cent) were fully vaccinated. The unvaccinated comprised 12 persons in primary, 15 in secondary, and one in tertiary isolation.  Of those fully vaccinated, one patient was in primary isolation, 15 in secondary, and one in tertiary.

There were three patients, one in primary isolation and two in secondary, whose vaccination status was unknown.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation housing the most severely ill. Tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill or not showing illness.

It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation is fluid and changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
