Effective Monday, May 30, 2022, there were 48 patients in isolation facilities (four in primary and 44 in secondary isolation).

Of these, 25 patients (52 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 21 (44 per cent) were fully vaccinated. The unvaccinated comprised three persons in primary and 22 in secondary isolation.

Of those fully vaccinated, one patient was in primary isolation and 20 were in secondary. Two persons in secondary isolation were partially vaccinated for COVID-19.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation housing the most severely ill. Tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill or not showing illness.

It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation is fluid and changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
