This report gives a breakdown of the persons in isolation facilities as at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2021.

There were 631 people in isolation. Of these, 468 patients (74 per cent) were unvaccinated, and 81 (13 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

Three of the fully vaccinated patients who were in primary isolation were in need of care, one was in secondary and the other 77 were in tertiary isolation.

Thirty-nine persons, two in primary and 36 in tertiary isolation, were partially vaccinated for COVID-19.  There were 43 persons in tertiary isolation whose status was unknown.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment with primary isolation housing the most severely ill.

Meanwhile, tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill or not showing illness. It is important to note that the number of persons in isolation is fluid and changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged.
