A national survey, organised by the Office of the Attorney General and designed to measure public opinion and knowledge of crime and criminal justice agencies, is being conducted in communities across Barbados.

Government is therefore appealing for the public’s cooperation in this very important exercise. All information gathered will be treated confidentially and no respondent will be identifiable in the research.

Since May 10, interviewers wearing appropriate identification badges have been in the field conducting random, face-to-face interviews with residents across the island.  The questionnaire examines the views and attitudes of the Barbadian population on crime, punishment and related matters of national interest.

An interviewer knocking on a person’s door will show an identification card bearing the name, Office of the Attorney General, and will ask the household to select one member, 18 years or older, for the interview.

Further information on the survey may be obtained by contacting the National Task Force on Crime Prevention at 436-4742, 436-4746 or 436-4753.
