Crime will take centre stage next month when the Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit (CJRPU) marks Crime Awareness Month 2019, from November 1 to 30, under the theme Eye on Crime.

The activities will kick off with the launch of an Anti-Violence jingle on Friday, November 1, in the Williams Seminar Room, Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, St. Michael, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

This will be followed by the release of findings from a Fear of Crime survey conducted by the CJRPU, on Thursday, November 7, in the University of the West Indies (UWI) Graduate Building, Lazaretto, St. Michael, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The survey findings will be presented by Senior Research Officer at the CJRPU, Kim Ramsay, and UWI Lecturer, Dr. Dwayne Devonish.

On Tuesday, November 19, the public will have the opportunity to come out and learn more about protecting themselves in the new age of technology during a lecture entitled What You Need To Know To Protect Yourself in the Digital Age.

It will be held in the Grande Salle, Central Bank of Barbados, Church Village, Bridgetown, at 7:00 p.m., and delivered by Chief Executive Officer of Sunisle Technology Solutions and President of the Barbados Information and Communication Technology Association, Steven Williams.
