Crime Awareness Week 2010, promoted by the National Task Force on Crime Prevention (NTFCP), begins next Sunday, October 24 and is this year focusing on building safer communities.

??NTFCP staff will attend a church service on Sunday at 10:30 at the Bank Hall Nazarene Church on Bank Hall Cross Road, St. Michael, ??to launch the celebrations.

A public lecture examining the role of the community in the governance of crime will be presented by University of the West Indies Director of Security Services, Oral Reid, at Grand Barbados Beach Resort on Wednesday, October 27, at 7:00 p.m.

Crime prevention officers who assist with the work of NTFCP will be rewarded with prizes during the evening.

The St. Michael School and Harrison College will compete in the Secondary School Debate Finals at the same hotel on Friday, October 29, from 9:30 a.m.

A community outreach at Emerald City, Six Roads, St. Philip from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the next day (Saturday, October 30) brings down the curtain on the week of activities. Crime prevention and security agencies will showcase their work and distribute memorabilia to people visiting the area. tadams@barbados.gov.bb
