Barbadians will be able to trace the evolution of masquerade and costumes in the Crop Over Festival through the years, when an exhibition is held at the Barbados Museum, the Garrison, St. Michael, from Friday, June 22, to Tuesday, August 14.

Leaves to Beads: 100 Years of Costume Design is the title of the exhibition which members of the public are encouraged to visit from Monday to Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Costumes of Barbadian folk characters, including the Mother Sally, Shaggy Bear, Donkey Man and Stilt Man will be on display, as well as original sketches of costume designs by Omowale Stewart, Glen Brathwaite, MADD, Winston Jordan and Gwyneth Squires.

The exhibition is being sponsored by Premier Event Services Inc. and TeleBarbados. Further information may be obtained by contacting the Barbados Museum at 427-0201 or email info@barbmuse.org.bb.

Admission to the Museum is free for locals and CARICOM nationals.
