Barbadians will have another two weeks to view the “Crop Over” exhibition by British artist Sonia Boyce at the Barbados Museum and Historical Society.

The multi-screened video and sound work production mounted by the Barbados Museum, in collaboration with the National Art Gallery Committee, will now conclude on September 15.

Admission to the exhibition is free of cost. “Crop Over” premiered at Harewood House, Leeds, England, in September 2007.

The video installation which is also part of the exhibition, features two large screens, and accompanying photographs of the island’s national festival, captured by Barbadian artist William Cummins.

The production, commissioned by Harewood House and the National Art Gallery Committee, received financial backing from the Art’s Council in England and the Prime Minister’s Office in Barbados.

Ms. Boyce, who is a multi-media artist, was born in England where she studied Fine Art at Stourbridge College of Art and Design. The illustrator’s outstanding work has also led to collaborations with artistic personalities in the media.

The achievements of the widely published artist include two major exhibitions, showcasing a wall drawing entitled “Devotional” at the National Portrait Gallery in London and a video presentation entitled “For You” which formed part of the group exhibition, Triple Echo, at the De la Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea, in England.
