The mood was a reflective one as diplomats, government representatives and citizens gathered to pay tribute to the victims of the Cubana crash at the monument in Payne’s Bay, St. James today.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador Juan Carlos Valdez Gonzalez stood in solidarity with Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Lissette P??rez P??rez, as they laid wreaths at the monument, which features the names of those who perished in the crash.

Members of the diplomatic community, including Ambassador of Brazil Appio Claudio Acquarone and Ambassador of China, Wei Qiang, were in attendance and offered their support, as members of the Cuban Embassy paid their respects.

The event marked 34 years since the terrorist attack on Cubana Flight 455, which left 73 people dead after a bomb exploded aboard the plane, just minutes after takeoff from Barbados.??
