Members of the public are advised that the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU) will be performing a series of geotechnical investigations around the island using a drone, beginning next week.

As a result, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations will be performed at select locations around the island from Monday, January 18, to Friday, February 12, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Areas under consideration include the parish of St. Lucy; Rock Hall, Christ Church; and Ocean City, Marley Vale, Harrismith and Fortesque in St. Philip.??

The work will be carried out by Helimetrex, through the use of a UAV operated by three staff members, who will be wearing clothing bearing the company???s logo.

The UAV investigation will focus on the vertical face of the cliffs along the coastline and is not expected to cause any significant disruption to residences or businesses. The drone is equipped with cameras and surveying equipment and operates in an unobtrusive manner.

For further queries or concerns about this campaign, persons may contact Terry Hutchinson, Cabral Barriteau-Foster or Ricardo Arthur, at the CZMU at telephone number 622-1610.??The CZMU appreciates the public???s cooperation in this matter.
