The Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU), under the Ministry of the Environment and National Beautification, has engaged consultants to conduct stakeholder consultations from Monday, April 4, until Saturday, April 30.
These form part of an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) funded Technical Co-operation Agreement: Improving Institutional Frameworks for Integrated Coastal Zone Management, National Risk Information Planning Systems and Sustainable Climate-Resilient Coastal Infrastructure.
The consultations will focus on two Coastal Infrastructure project sites: Oistins to Enterprise Beach (also known as Miami Beach), Christ Church, and St. Lawrence Gap to Rockley Beach, Christ Church.
The focus of both projects is to provide coastal protection; improve lateral access, and upgrade beach amenities where feasible.
During the consultations, members of the public, including residents, business owners and visitors, are encouraged to participate by engaging in one-on-one meetings with property owners (business and residential).
Persons required for these meetings will be contacted directly, and meetings will be held between Monday, April 4, and Thursday, April 14.
In addition, enumerators will visit persons to conduct surveys. They will have identification issued by the CZMU, and will follow all COVID-19 protocols.
Alternatively, persons are encouraged to visit the CZMU’s website, or view its posters with QR Codes at beaches around the island, to complete a self-guided survey.
Participation in the self-guided survey provides persons with a chance to win a gift certificate valued at BDS$100.
