Ten years after the creation of the Community Dance Fest, not only will the event now be called idancefest, but its organisers will also be exploring financial opportunities by utilizing its presence in cyberspace.

Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development, Steven Blackett, made this announcement last Saturday at the 2015-2016 Community Dance Fest Awards Ceremony, held on the grounds of the Warrens Office Complex, St. Michael.

As Barbadians gathered to recognise and honour the wealth of talent possessed by those who participated in this season???s Community Dance Festival, Mr. Blackett explained reasoning behind the rebranding of the competition.

???In an effort to revitalize the programme and broaden our market appeal, we created the website called ???idancefest??? that enables you to log on to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube to view the various events that took place,??? he said.

To date, 30,000 persons have visited the Facebook page, which, according to Mr. Blackett demonstrates ???the wide reach of social media and signals the need to be aware of the rewarding financial benefits that can be attained with a properly executed social media campaign???.

The Minister then appealed to members of corporate Barbados to partner with the Community Development Department and get involved with the programme, which seeks to create and enhance the all-round development of aspiring dancers.

However, he did not conclude his address without congratulating all of this year???s participants and giving them sound advice.?????Keep up the good work, raise your standards higher and continue to strive for excellence??? engage in worthwhile endeavours which will strengthen you as individuals and by extension your communities,??? the Minister told the young dancers.
