Residents in the six constituencies of St. Michael North, St. Michael North West, Christ Church South, St. Philip South, St. James North, and St. George South now have until Friday, January 30, to submit nomination forms for candidates to participate in the process of establishing these constituency councils.

This was announced today by Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment, Urban and Rural Development, Christopher Sinckler, who said the decision was made “in light of the numerous requests” for an extension of the deadline and that it would also allow for the nomination of more persons.

Nomination forms are available from the Ministry on the 4th Floor, Warrens Office Complex, or may be downloaded from the website

Minister Sinckler also said that the Draft Bill on Constituency Councils was ready and would go to Parliament within the next three weeks.

The passing of this Bill will give legality to the 30 Constituency Councils and their functions.
