As Barbados continues its preparations for the upcoming Caribbean Food Crops Society (CFCS) Conference here in July, participants are being reminded of the approaching deadline for the submission of papers.

All abstracts, which are a brief outline of what the presentation, video or work is about, should be submitted via email to The Chairman of the Scientific Committee at chair47cfcssccom@minagriculture.gov.bb by Friday, April 15, 2011. They should be no more than 350 words.

The Scientific Committee will review and notify the authors with regard to the status of their submissions.

The CFCS 47th annual meeting will take place from July 3 to 9, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.?? It will be held under the theme of the event, "Assuring Caribbean Food and Nutrition Security in the context of Climate Change."

The meeting is expected to bring together scientists, technicians, planners, farmers, agriculturalists and other stakeholders from the region, Latin America, the United States and Europe to discuss critical issues related to agriculture, food and fisheries, particularly ways of moving the sectors forward and highlighting some of its major achievements.

Some 150 delegates are expected for the conference, which is being coordinated by the Government of Barbados, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, Industry and Small Business Development.

An award for the top Barbadian research paper will also be presented at the conference.
