Senior athletes interested in registering for this year’s National Senior Games are reminded that the deadline for registration for the track and field events is Monday, May 27.

The games, scheduled for the National Stadium on Whit Monday, June 10, is open to athletes, aged 40 to 90-plus.

Registration forms are available from Sports and Games, Bridgetown; the headquarters of the Barbados Defence Force, The Garrison; the National Sports Council, My Lord’s Hill; Round Hay Pharmacy, One Accord Plaza, Warrens; and the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Warrens.

Persons who have collected forms are reminded that they must be returned to any of these distribution centres by the deadline date.

Under the theme Live Well, Live Long, this year’s event is being promoted as a day of “fun, family, fitness and fellowship”.

Along with the competitive activity on the track and field, there are a number of fun events geared at entertaining the crowd, including races featuring parliamentarians, entertainers and Mother Sallys.

There will also be a Fun Zone for children and a Health Village with booths manned by the Diabetes Association of Barbados, the Barbados Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Animal Control Centre. The all-day event begins at 8:00 a.m.
