Strengthening existing diplomatic ties, airlift and exploring opportunities for Barbadian businesses to showcase their products in Panama, were among the areas discussed when Panama’s Ambassador to Barbados, Arlina Gonzales Costa, paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Maxine McClean.

During the meeting at the Ministry’s Culloden Road, St. Michael, offices yesterday, the two counterparts exchanged a range of ideas on how to improve relations between the countries bilaterally and in other areas.

Senator McClean expressed the hope of forging stronger trading links given the historical ties between the two nations. "As you know we have had some very strong historic ties in Panama and for us, it offers a number of opportunities to build trading opportunities," she said.

Barbados and Panama established diplomatic ties in 1975.
