Barbados and Brazil are looking to strengthen their relationship in the area of agriculture.

This was one of the topics discussed today during a courtesy call on Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management, Dr. David Estwick, by Brazil???s Ambassador, Luiz Seixas De Andrade.

Dr. Estwick mentioned a number of upcoming local agricultural projects, including the Cane Industry Restructuring Project, which he described as beneficial to the food security of Barbados.

He also discussed using various technologies to improve the sector, among them, utilising more greenhouse technologies, and further training for those in the industry.

Ambassador De Andrade told the Minister that Brazil was interested in working with Barbados and the rest of the region in agriculture, and other areas of mutual benefit, in the near future.

Barbados and Brazil established diplomatic relations in 1971.
