When Housing Ministers from Latin America and the Caribbean convene in Mexico City, Mexico, next week, one of the main talking points will be Sustainable Housing and Housing Cooperatives.
Minister of Housing, Michael Lashley, will head a three-member delegation to the 21st General Assembly of Ministers of Housing and Urbanisation of Latin America and the Caribbean (MINURVI) from August 20 to 22.
Among the topics to be discussed will be a proposal for the Regulations for the Permanent Technical Secretariat of MINURVI. The definitive version of the "Report of the Cities of Latin America and the Caribbean" by UN-HABITAT will also be presented at the meeting.
MINURVI is a sub-regional grouping of UN-HABITAT, representing the Latin American and the Caribbean region.?? The grouping provides a forum for consultation and cooperation among Ministers and other officials on matters pertaining to housing and urban development.
Last year, Barbados attended the 20th General Assembly of MINURVI, which was held in Asunci??n, Paraguay, from September 14 to 16.
