Residents from the St. Matthias to Rendezvous, Christ Church area are invited to attend a community consultation on Monday, September 26, at the St. Matthias Church Hall, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The meeting is being hosted by the Christ Church West District Emergency Organisation (DEO) in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Management (DEM).
It will feature a presentation on the tsunami evacuation map to the community and seek to gather their feedback. Residents will also be given an update on the Tsunami Ready initiative for the area.
The St. Matthias to Rendezvous, Christ Church area is one of two communities participating in the Tsunami Ready Programme. The other area is Porters to Holders Hill, St. James.
The project is under the guidance of the Technical Standing Committee on Coastal Hazards, co-chaired by the DEM and the Coastal Zone Management Unit. They work in close collaboration with the UNESCO/IOC-Caribbean Tsunami Information Centre hosted by the Government of Barbados.
The new Tsunami Ready programme for the two communities was officially launched at the DEM in May.
